This is a 176g Innova Dark Star XD from the 40th Anniversary Metalflake Dark Star run in black. The XD is a control driver with a reliable, straight-to-overstable flight that has been a workhorse in Innova's lineup for decades.
Metalflake Dark Star is a variant with a distinctive glittery flake finish embedded through the disc. It carries all the durability and firmness of standard Star, but with a shimmer that makes it stand out in a bag. Champion-line plastics are stiff, slick, and built to take hits from trees and rough ground without warping.
The XD flies on a straight line with a predictable overstable finish, making it reliable on forehand approaches and controlled backhand lines where you need the disc to hold its angle and finish left (for RHBH).
It handles headwinds without flipping, so it works well as a controlled utility driver when conditions get windy.
The 40th Anniversary edition marks a milestone for Innova and features collector-worthy commemorative artwork. It is a limited run that appeals to both players who want to throw it and collectors who want to keep it shelf-worthy.
Intermediate to advanced players who want a dependable control driver for forehand lines, headwind shots, and tight hyzer approaches, plus anyone looking to add a collector piece from a notable Innova anniversary run.
