The Spirit is one of Gateway's most overstable distance drivers, a mid 2000s design that treats fade as the whole point. It drives forward without a hint of turn and then hooks left, hard, in nearly any wind you dare throw it into. That makes it a specialist: forehand bombs, spike hyzers, headwind drives, and skip shots. As an everyday distance driver it is punishing, but as a utility driver it is close to unshakable.
